The fireproofing maintained the stability of the structure by remaining in place throughout the fire, withstanding impact, abrasion and thermal shock of water from the fire hoses. Furthermore, the fireproofing was unaffected by the extensive wind turbulence generated after early failure of the curtain wall. The effectiveness of the Mandolite and Fendolite is such that none of the structural beams required replacement.
